Grow a tree indoors.

Follow these 5 simple steps to help you plant your very own little avocado tree.
All you need is an avocado pit (seed), a plastic cup at least 5 inches (12.5 cm) high, four toothpicks, a pot 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) across, and some potting soil.


Step 1: Poke 4 toothpicks into the avocado pit like in the picture above.

Step 2: Place the pit into a full glass of water with the pointy side of the pit pointing up. Half of the pit should be out of the water.

Step 3: Place the glass in a nice warm spot like the kitchen but keep it out of the sunlight for now. You will need to add water occasionally as the level drops down.

Step 4: Pretty soon you will see roots shooting down into the water followed by the avocado pit beginning to split open and then a green shoot will come out of the top.

Step 5: Now it is time to remove the toothpicks and transfer your plant to the pot. Be gentle not to damage the roots and cover the pit up to only half way with soil. Water your growing Avocado tree once a week. Now it can be placed in some sunlight but not too much at first.
